What is the AMBER Alert.com Child ID Kit?
The AMBER Alert.com Child ID Kit is software. The software was developed to purposefully make it very easy for parents/guardians to use. In the event of an emergency, simply present this USB device to law enforcement and provide them with the password so they can quickly start the processes for issuing an AMBER Alert.
Who makes the Child ID Kit?
AMBERAlert.com designed and developed this easy to use software for the Child ID Kit using our extensive experience and knowledge of law enforcement requirements and by assessing other ID Kits on the market.
Why should I get a Child ID Kit?
The software was created primarily for emergency situations where time is of the essence and the more prepared you are the faster law enforcement can proceed with finding your child. It's insurance and peace of mind for your precious children.
How many children will the Child ID Kit hold?
Information and photos for up to five children can be entered on the AmberAlert.com Child ID kit. Note: Most competitors child ID kits will hold information for only one child.
What happens if I loose my child's kit or if I forget my password?
The device is password protected and encrypted. If you loose it there is no way anyone can access that information without a password; there are no "back doors". If you forget your password, the Child ID Kit will have to be reset and you will loose all the information previously stored on it.
How does law enforcement use the Child ID Kit?
When you find yourself in an emergency or investigative situation, provide the Child ID Kit with the password to the police. Or you can print and/or email the information to police. The police will then use the information for their investigation and to issue an AMBER Alert if neccessary.
How big is the Child ID Kit?
The USB device is only 2.5" long, making it very easy to attach to your key chain to carry with you or keep in a safe place.
How is the Child ID Kit different from other ID Kits?
Other ID Kits are neither as comprehensive nor as easy to update information and pictures. With the Child ID Kit you can easily keep the old photos and simply add newer ones, and at the same time update the information.
I am not a technology savvy person, how easy is the Child ID Kit to use?
You do not have to be tech savvy to use the AMBER Alert.com Child ID Kit. We purposefully designed it for easy use.
What do I need in order to use this device or run the software?
You will need a computer or laptop that runs Microsoft Windows. To find an available USB Port on your computer, look for the USB Port symbol and insert the Child ID Kit into the port then wait for the software to launch.
Do I have to install any software or hardware?
There is no software installation an no internet connection is required.
How many pictures can I store on the Child ID Kit?
The Child ID Kit that is available on the online store has a memory capacity of 512MB, which is sufficient enough to hold up to 100 photos or more, depending on their size.
How often do I update my child's information on the ID Kit?
We recommend that you update your child's information and photo's every six months.
Apart from on the USB device, where else is my child's information stored?
Your child's information is not stored in any other place besides the Child ID Kit itself. It is not stored on the computer that you use nor do we have access.
Can I save or back up the information on my child kit onto my personal computer?
Yes. This is possible through exporting and saving the information, although it's not recommended because your computer does not offer the same amount of protectioni as the Child ID Kit.
When is a Mac version coming out?
The Mac version of the Child ID Kit is in the works and coming out very soon. Thank you for your patience!
